Best time to visit Banff
You can visit Banff all year round and it depends on what you want to do when it comes to deciding the best time to visit.
In summer (July - September) Banff enjoys warm, sunny weather, although temperatures will cool during the night. Average highs reach 22°C. Autumn in Banff (October - December) means cool mornings with temperatures warming up later in the day. There can be frosts on the ground and snow can start to cover the peaks of the mountains.
During winter (January – March) large snowfalls are common. These are popular months for skiing and snowboarding holidays. January is the coldest month with average lows of -15°C. Spring (April - June) is a popular time of the year to go hiking as you can enjoy summertime temperatures during the day.

The Icefields Parkway Tour
Prepare yourself for the experience of the Columbia Icefields. This impressive icefield forms one of the largest masses of ice south of the Arctic Circle. Your route along the scenic Icefields Parkway provides a spectacular view, and also includes a trip directly onto the Athabasca Glacier – which represents a substantial portion of the entire ice blanket - in a special Ice Explorer snow coach. Following your on-ice adventure, you will head over to the Glacier Skywalk. Step out on a cliff-edge walkway where giant glaciers perch above you and the spectacular Sunwapta Valley spreads out below.
