Overview

Québec City is beautiful, oozing a real old world charm. Cobbled streets, designer boutiques, Parisian-style cafes, impressive architecture and intriguing history make this a holiday destination to remember.

See Canada's oldest city from the deck of a cruise boat on the St. Lawrence River. As you cruise along the shoreline, a guide relates the story of ‘New France' and tells you about the origins of Québec's most famous landmarks. Relax and take in the spectacular views of the Chateau Frontenac, Cap Diamant, Ile d'Orleans and Montmorency Falls. And just when you think you have seen it all, you can hop on the famous Faubourg Elevator to visit the inspiring Saint-Jean-Baptiste district.

Whether you seek a chic city break holiday dining out on world-class cuisine and spending your days hitting the designer boutiques, or you are stopping off on your action packed self-drive tour, there is something for everyone waiting to be discovered on a Québec City holiday. So get booking your Québec City flights and holiday today.

Things to do

Parliament Hill is one of the most popular tourist spots in the city, and the impressive building is home of the National Assembly. The area surrounding Parliament hill is beautiful with unique neighbourhoods to explore and incredible architecture. The streets here are busy and are lined with Parisian-style cafes, restaurants, luxurious hotels and trendy nightclubs.

While in Québec, a must is a visit to Montmorency Falls. Reaching higher heights than Niagara Falls, you have the unique experience of walking the width of this natural wonder via a suspension bridge. Take the gondola to the peak and walk the bridge across – certainly not for the faint of hearted – but you can always take the stairs up or down the length as well.

Top Tip 2

• Take a trip to Old Québec and take a snap of Château Frontenac, which is the most photographed hotel in the world. The old world European feel of this area is charming, with horse-drawn carriages, street entertainers, singers and artists offer something new around every corner.

Top Tip 3

• Visit La Citadelle – this star-shaped tower that sits above the St. Lawrence River offers an insight into the city’s history and is the only fully French speaking regiment in Canada.

Top Tip 4

• Wonder at the force of Montmorency Falls, which are actually 30m higher than Niagara Falls. In the summer take a scenic gondola ride up to the top of the falls and enjoy the spectacular views.

Top Tip 5

• Sample poutine, a traditional Canadian dish from Québec that is made with french fries topped with a light brown gravy-like sauce and cheese curds. Definitely one for the foodies!

Top Tip 6

• Parliament Hill is one of the city’s most popular tourist spots and is surrounded by unique neighbourhoods to explore, and fantastic architecture to admire.

Top Tip 7

• Try a walking tour of Québec City and learn about its interesting past and those who inhabited it throughout the centuries.

Top Tip 8

• For a fun family activity visit the city’s Aquarium and see the polar bears playing in the water. Be sure to visit the new Pavillon des profondeurs, where you can interact with jellyfish, seahorses and stingrays.

Top Tip 9

• Shopaholics should visit the Petit Champlain area in the old part of the city – there are lots of lovely designer boutiques here to explore.
